@matigo You can initialize based on a custom install .iso file, but that's nowhere near as flexible as AMIs. They have that pesky up-front fee and monthly-based payments instead of hourly payments, too..
@matigo The flexibility is really the key feature of AWS. Being able to make an AMI and if things go sour recreate a new VM from that in less than a minute? This is the stuff I used to dream about when setting up VMWare ESX by myself back in the day, haha.
@matigo Sort of. Most of it is on Sakura, actually. I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible. I use AWS for staging environments because they're rarely used and it's super easy to start/stop things, but right now I'm on a single Sakura VPS. I'll be eyeing AWS in the future if I find the need to do scaling or something like that, though.
